Polar and Cold Regions Research (PCRR) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal covering scientific, engineering, environmental, and interdisciplinary research related to polar and cold regions.
Aims
Polar and Cold Regions Research (PCRR) aims to facilitate research on the physical, environmental, ecological, geological, atmospheric, and technological characteristics of polar and cold regions. The journal provides a forum for studies addressing the scientific understanding, engineering challenges, environmental changes, and sustainable development of these regions.
PCRR welcomes interdisciplinary research that contributes to understanding polar and cold-region systems and to the development of appropriate approaches for research, monitoring, infrastructure, transportation, resource use, environmental management, and adaptation under cold and extreme conditions.
Scope
The scope of PCRR encompasses research on natural systems, environmental processes, climate-related changes, engineering technologies, transportation, and human activities in polar and cold regions. The journal welcomes theoretical, observational, experimental, modeling, and applied studies, including interdisciplinary research.
Glaciology and Cryospheric Sciences
Glaciers, ice sheets, snow, permafrost, and other components of the cryosphere, including their dynamics, interactions, and changes.
Oceanography and Sea Ice
Polar ocean processes, sea-ice dynamics, ocean–ice interactions, marine environments, and related physical and environmental processes.
Polar Ecology
Polar ecosystems, biodiversity, species adaptation, ecological processes, environmental change, and interactions between organisms and their surrounding environments.
Cold and Arid Regions Sciences
Environmental and geographical processes in cold, high-altitude, and arid regions, including interactions among climate, land, water, and human activities.
Atmospheric and Climate Sciences
Atmospheric processes, climate variability and change, climate impacts, and interactions between atmospheric conditions and polar and cold-region systems.
Geological Evolution
Geological processes, geomorphology, geological evolution, sedimentary systems, and environmental records relevant to polar and cold regions.
Ice-Class Vessel Design
Design, engineering, materials, propulsion, structural performance, safety, and operational technologies for vessels operating in ice-covered and cold marine environments.
Arctic Routes and Maritime Transportation
