Reyhan Ata holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering with a specialization in advanced wastewater treatment, focusing particularly on the removal of antibiotics. She is also a certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, with extensive experience in establishing management systems, GMP/GLP compliance, and providing consultancy on chemical safety. With a long professional background in both industry and academia, she has worked in various wastewater treatment facilities and continues to contribute to research and practice in sustainable water management.

Currently, she is an academic at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, specializing in environmental engineering and sustainable wastewater treatment. Her research focuses on advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), photocatalysis, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in water and wastewater treatment. She has authored scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and actively contributes to curriculum development, university educational program accreditation, and interdisciplinary projects linking environmental science, chemistry, statistical analysis and health and safety.

She joined the editorial board of Global Waste Valorization on September 15, 2025, as an editorial member.
