Welcome Dr. Michael Fesler North to join the Editorial Board

Dr. Michael North is an assistant professor of public relations at Middle Georgia State University and the Media, Culture and the Arts Department chair.
He teaches courses that focus on public relations writing, campaigns, social media, data storytelling, mass communication and public speaking. As chair, Dr. North manages several areas of study that include art, media and communication, film production, music, modern languages, and interdisciplinary studies. His research focuses on social media, strategic communication, and crisis communication.
Dr. North contributed to several chapters on social media writing, strategy, and branding in Whitney Lehman’s “Social Media Theory and Communications Practice.” He helped publish an article that connected Facebook engagement with the bottom line titled “Facebook likes and corporate revenue: Testing the attitude between consistency and behavior” in the International Journal of Advertising. Lastly, Dr. North published a journal article titled “Creating a crisis: An examination of a modern crisis on Twitter” in the International Journal of Electronic Marketing and Retailing and is currently working on a book chapter that examines crisis communication and social media influencers.
Prior to arriving at MGA in 2023, Dr. North was an associate professor and department chair at Central Connecticut State University where he taught courses in strategic communication for almost seven years. He earned a B.A. in business management, an M.A. in print journalism, and a Ph.D. in communication all from the University of Miami.
He joined the editorial board of Crisis and Resilience on September 10, 2025, as an editorial member.
